about

I found this super-rare gem on the internet for (relatively) cheap! Unknown blues legend Furdy Walters (real name Walter Furdie by some accounts, Fudgy Waters by others) wrote and recorded this version of the rarely (if ever) heard western Kentucky folk tune "Ballad of the Legend of McChad," which originates, of course, from the Middle English "Ballade o' McChallade," with unknown sensation Howlin' Bear Franklin' (father of unrecorded blues great and entrepreneur Eggplant Franklin' Sr). I'm obsessed with the legend and lore that doesn't surround the infamous character(s) Michael McChad, and I've not been searching for this particular piece of the puzzle since I wasn't six.

lyrics

Gonna tell the legend
Of the man McChad
Lived a hundred years ago
Might've been my dad

Grew up in Rogers, Arkansas
Built an ark and sailed west
All the way to your mom's house
So he could borrow her test

Catapulted across
The Grand Canyon to save
A poor granny from a badger
Explosion at a gentleman's club (It was a rave)

Surfed with Liza Minnelli
Ate a Corn Dog alive
Did the Dungy with Vanilli
And that ain't no jive
Uuuh!

With just 5 Dollars to his name
And 50 Cents to his hat
He built an empire of hundreds
By breeding dogs with cats

Wrote a song about the police
And all the cops went to jail
Wrote a song about a pineapple
I hope that pineapple burns in hell
Uuuh!

"I married a candle"

He's still out there today
Living off all that dough
And if you don't believe it
Then you won't gonna know
